Dave,

Interesting observation. I attended an event last night at which the featured speaker opened up with a line about the person (her friend no less) who introduced her: “Wow! Note to self, don’t go on after a guy who’s been drinking a lot.” My friend and I had a similar Luna Park reaction to you and your wife. For about a minute, we tried to look at how that could have been meant positively.

It broke rapport with the audience immediately. She never regained it.

Obvious narcissism is a rapport breaker for sure.
