From the get-go the programs ‘ice breaker’ techniques moved many graduates from their ‘comfort zone, to a beyond zone.’ Throwing us into the ‘beyond zone’ disabled everyone’s protection mechanisms and allowed us to be more ‘real’. The beauty with that was being able to develop stronger relationships earlier. Many graduates are very fresh and we don’t have the experience to understand workplace dynamics. Understanding ourselves through introversion v extroversion techniques allowed those ‘louder’ individuals or ‘softer’ individuals to better understand how they may be perceived in the work environment. This is MASSIVE because first impressions are major and those extroverts who don’t soften at the right time or those introverts who don’t perk up at the right time can make an unintentional career limiting move (CLM). Again Dave you have memorable stories that drive home these very practical points! NETWORKING! Networking! Networking! The word is probably the most used and cherished in corporate jargon and it is TRUE! The program helped me look at networking with a very positive connotation. Co-workers are definitely able to help progress your career. The program emphasised ‘what can you do for the boss’ approach to networking, which is far more relevant than only thinking about number one. Again Dave reiterated the theory with personal experiences that drove the point home. 400/10 energy has made me focus on the strength of self-talk. Despite my mood, self-talk allows the power of the mind to push through energy lapses and be an energy giver, never an energy taker. Outstanding Program Dave! “I think the biggest thing Dave inspired me to do was to “step up and OWN the room!” It is all about taking the plunge and believing that you can achieve, and that you have something to give. Just the week after, I was able to step up in front of the Managing Director and MC for her road show. I was the only grad to do that, and have received great feedback from it. All from stepping up! Dave also guided us through the philosophy of playing to win, be out there to get it, don’t just do things sub-par. His favourite saying is giving it 400 out of 10. When you go that high, you have to commit, there is no choice, and every time he made us scream it, we believed it.
